radioheadのニュー・シングル「House of Cards」のPVは、カメラを使わずに撮影が行なわれた．監督 james frost は、ビデオカメラの代わりに Geometric Informatics およびVelodyne Lidar といった2種類の最新3Dキャプチャー技術を駆使して制作．前者はレーザーを使って近距離の対象物の詳細な3Dイメージをキャプチャーするもので、メンバーのパフォーマンスを撮影. 後者は、より広い環境を3Dでとらえることが可能で、セットやパーティー・ショットの撮影に使用されたとか．都市計画や建築で本来使われる最先端技術を、このようにビデオ表現に応用されるのはおもしろい．とてもハイテクなのに3Dの仕上がりが Pixarのようなものではなく、とてもlo-fiなのが美しい．3D dataは こちら.で見られます．メイキングは上記に掲載．

Using 3D video acquisition systems from Geometric Informatics, and 64-element, 360-degree LIDAR from Velodyne, the band was able to create a clip that eschews traditional video recording for haunting, complex data visualizations. the rendering has a lo-fi quality which gives a more interesting texture than the Pixar type shading we have grown acustomed to. the 3D data and viewer are available as google codes at this link.
