Bill Calahan（バンド名はSmog）は、どの歌手よりもいい声を持っている. とにかく僕の好みの声である．dead man's shoesのサウンドトラックにも使われている．あえて分類するならば、lo-fi alternativeというジャンルに属するのでしょうけれど、分類されず、他の音楽と一線を画すのは、意味があることである．Smog（スモッグ、煙霧）は、その名の通り、環境、エコロジーに限らず、人の歴史、人類の教えなどをなんとなく取入れようとする意識が常に感じられる．過去の押しつけがましいうるさいプロテスト音楽と違って、時と空気を譜面のように読んで演奏される音楽．

If one insist on categorising his music it would be lo-fi alternative. meaningful music with soft slow
strong melodies. the name comes from the famous urban pollutant not by coincidence, if you think of ecology end environment in philodophical terms you can grasp the grand picture which
feeds his songs, it's almost as if he reads a score from time and space around us.
